Dr. Tracey Hughes
Dr. Tracey Hughes is a comprehensive physiologic dentist with over 20 years of experience, known for her warm, relationship-centered approach and commitment to conservative, patient-focused care.
Her approach to care is rooted in a physiologic philosophy, with advanced training through the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, where she completed fellowship training and served as a clinical instructor for several years. She incorporates airway-focused dentistry and the management of sleep-disordered breathing, recognizing the important connection between oral structures, breathing, and overall health.
Dr. Hughes believes in preserving natural tooth structure whenever possible and often recommends conservative restorative options, such as custom designed ceramic restorations, rather than more aggressive full-coverage crowns when appropriate. She also recognizes the connection between oral inflammation and whole-body health, integrating therapies like LANAP to support both periodontal and systemic wellness.
She is certified in the LANAP protocol and has been utilizing laser dentistry since 2007 to treat periodontal disease in a minimally invasive way. Using the PerioLase MVP-7, Dr. Hughes provides an alternative to traditional gum surgery that supports the body’s natural healing process while reducing discomfort and recovery time. She also performs LAPIP to help preserve failing dental implants.
She is currently completing certification in SMART, further aligning her care with biologic and patient-safety principles. Dr. Hughes works closely with each patient to create individualized treatment plans using materials and approaches that support both function and overall well-being.
Her care philosophy aligns with biologic dentistry principles, focusing on reducing inflammation, supporting natural healing, and considering the impact of oral health on the entire body.
Patients appreciate her thoughtful, thorough approach and her ability to combine advanced clinical care with a genuine focus on long-term health.
Originally from Urbandale, Dr. Hughes is excited to be back serving the community she once called home. After years in the Rocky Mountains raising her family, she returns with a deep appreciation for connection, health, and creating a positive experience for every patient she serves.
